    Piano Basics: Numbering the Fingers

    Once you have found C on the keyboard, we need to figure on how to place our fingers. We start by numbering the fingers on each hand, 1-5. Always start with your thumbs as number 1 until you get to your pinky which is number 5. Now that you know how your fingers are supposed to be numbered, place your right hand thumb or finger number one on C. But these days - with schools adding extra work now that they feel they are more confident in zoom learning and then the activities kids are in to help them stave off the separation that being in a pandemic has caused - Kids are just as busy.     Need to Get Your Rests In

    When we are writing, things can get a little confusing if a sentence just keeps droning on and on. When we tell a story, we have to take breaths and pauses so that a point can come across correctly. Breathing in-between words also adds flair to our story so it is not just bland. In music we enact all of these techniques by adding rests to the music, or silence. Just as we would add a comma or a period to a sentence, so too we add silence to break up the droll that a story can
